I am so thankful for my entire experience at this summer's "Making it on Broadway" Intensive. After meeting Jodie, Kim, and Jose during the audition process, I knew that these were people that I wanted to work with. Their respective resumes and the career connections are incentive enough but what sealed the deal for me is the environment they provide for their students. They are fun and energetic, and have personalities that inspire each student to work hard to reach their true potential while having a great time. Throughout the week, the classes truly helped me to sharpen my skills and to feel more comfortable in the audition room, which made an immediate impact on my career. Specifically helpful was the final class of "Acting Your Song", where we prepared a "mock audition" for an actual upcoming audition that we were appropriate for. The audition I prepared for was a regional Equity production of Les Miserables for the part of Marius. It obviously helped me to be my best because in the week following the intensive, I landed that role and my Equity Card at that very theatre! The intensive not only offers stellar training and insight but also offers great opportunities to sing in front of Broadway Music Directors, Major Casting Directors and a Broadway Agent. One of my biggest goals this summer was to secure representation, and the intensive gave me the opportunity to sing for a top-tier agent. A few days after the intensive, I recieved a call that they would like to sign me on as a client! Talk about a great investment!! I got an agent and the confidence to book my first Equity job immediately after finishing the intensive! But...the story gets better!!! After signing with my agency, they sent me in on my first agent appointment for the Broadway 1st National Tour of Grease in the role of Doody, and can you believe that I BOOKED IT!! I feel so fortunate to have been a part of this program, and can credit the "Making it on Broadway" intensive as the catalyst that has taken my career to the next level. Great training, great connections, and great friendships = So thankful!! |
